I think ultimately COVID will be one of those things that changes society and not for the better.
It's unfortunate that we'll never get the real truth on things like origin, real severity, real lethality, etc.
So a viral version of 9/11.

There are still people who think contracting Covid is an automatic death sentence. These people also feel that the only acceptable outcome is complete eradication of the virus that was never going to happen. Instead of accepting reality and integrating back into society with whatever precautions they feel they personally need, they continue to double down and get angry at the world for not doing the same.

I saw a video the other day. Set up like the soldier coming home videos. But it was just an adult daughter who had not been home to see parents in 3 years due to Covid. Did not mention if any of them had underlying conditions. They all looked well enough. 30ish daughter, and parents about 60?
Insane to be away from family that long. Without military or travel circumstance.

Covid was just the last straw for a lot of mentally weak people, and the constant deluge of fear porn for two years has addicted them to the fear
Bears repeating.
How odd to be conditioned to a fear and hate-based "fix". (When they see the MSNBC - CNN logo on TV, does it give them a dopemine high in anticipation of all the fear-porn bad news?)
These same broken, insane pods probably can not wait for MSNBC to report news of a tenth booster, more fatal viruses (incurably if possible), and... an asteroid heading for their neighborhood AND WW3. (They extended fantasy: ALL of the above reported on the very same 'SPECIAL NEWS REPORT'.)

They were already broken before covid

My BIL is dating this gal that wore her mask at the family get together yesterday. There were approximately 15 people there and this idiot deemed us unsafe enough to wear the mask so I deemed her mentally retarded enough to talk to her like I talk to my aunt who is actually mentally retarded. Baby sentences, speaking loudly and slowly, blindly smiling and nodding when she said something but not really paying attention to her.
Just leave it alone, man. Unless shes trying to dictate what you do and don’t do, why do you care what she does?
She wore a damn mask. She’s an idiot (unless she has a weak immune system), but that doesn’t mean you have to be a complete sociopath

Now imagine living in a bubble (ahem, Brooklyn) in which you are surrounded by like-minded people, only consume media from like-minded sources, and your social media was curated so you only saw like-minded views. You’d probably think it was all quite normal.
However, this is entirely flawed because I’ve been to Brooklyn at least a dozen times post-COVID and it wasn’t anything like you’ve seeing portrayed. Even hipster heaven is filled with working class people who go about their lives. You’d have to be intentionally lying to yourself at this point to believe any of this.

Covid broke a lot of people on both ends of the spectrum. We overreacted in some ways, underreacted in others, get to live with it permanently now, so time for everyone to accept it, protect themselves how they see fit, and move on with life.

Your Humble Mx Pimpness is literally shaking, finds this problematic and thinks they are so courageous, and if we don’t comply the terrorists will have won, and we should do it for the children, who are the future.
Because that article from the NYT, a former newspaper, did not contain enough poorly- reasoned cliches. Yikes.

This is why progressivism will lose. These people cannot handle life.

These people were whack jobs before Covid and this just gave their mental illness the opportunity to flourish with the added bonus of being sanctimonious about it. I had a friend who's a big Covid drama queen. She was probably going to die alone anyway but now she's definitely going to die alone.
