But she had her flashers on for a good few 100 yards. That means she saw the "kid" way back or saw something and someone ran to catch up to her.

An “abduction” does make less and less sense as we go along, but her making a scheme to disappear doesn’t make sense to me either. She’s a single adult with no kids. If she wanted to leave town, she could just… do it?

I know someone who did exactly this, also as a single adult with no kids. Disappeared and left evidence to make it look like he had been abducted/murdered, only to be found like 2 years later in another state.

It’s a pretty illogical way to disappear when you think about it - if you just “run away” without making it look like there was any foul play, there’s likely to be far less media/police attention. But it’s happened before.

If somebody’s mental health has reached a point where they are ready to disappear without a trace, I don’t know that you can get too bogged down trying to decipher the logic of their decisions.

Did Harpersville PD reach out to press or the other way around?

Adding nothing to search it just seems a little like a self-promo or pandering a little. It seems like it would a brief message of support, and if anything relevant they would deal directly with Hoover PD.

quote:

Before she disappeared Thursday night in Hoover, Carlee Russell was in Harpersville, where she left police officers there with an impression of a “smart, courteous” woman despite a brief interaction, the town’s police department said Friday.

“We were honored to spend time with this smart, courteous and honoring young woman yesterday,” the department said on social media. “She was handling some business in the Town of Harpersville yesterday and we were so impressed by her respect, poise, good attitude and her drive to become a nursing student and help others.”

“We were able to tell her how much we thought of her and that she would do well in life,” the post continued. “When this news broke, so did our hearts. This world needs many many more young women and young men like her.”

The department said it is “anxiously awaiting hopeful news while our prayers are with her family, friends and community. Please join us in prayer for her safe return.”

especially since the media is racist and won't cover a missing black woman etc etc

Wouldn't that be some shite, when they do..if she did some crazy shite like that

women need to be ok with alerting authorities and keep moving to safety instead of trying to solve the problem.

I don’t know any woman who would just call the police and leave a baby alone on the road. Even knowing this has happened to others I couldn’t bring myself to leave a baby on a road alone. I would definitely scope the situation before jumping out now and have my gun in hand but never just leave. In fact, I wouldn’t want to know any female who did because something inside her is broken.

Leaving a “baby” on a busy interstate seems like a really complicated way to abduct somebody

I agree, it's risky but would work if done right.

That's all I really know about the case, the inital story. haven't been following or seen any video

It wasn't a "baby" it says child. It could have been an object dressed to look like a child 5-10 years old. A midget is also possible. I'm 5ft and if dressed as a kid and stood on the road someone might think I was a child.
My guess is something extraterrestrial. I'm a firm believer that evil lurkes at night. She was abducted, but I doubt abducted by a human. There's some weird stuff happening lately. People don't just vanish without a trace unless it's some black magic imvolved or "aliens". Seriously

What about the fact that she's a nursing student? Medical people are known to sometimes abuse readily available drugs. Maybe she got into some bad drugs and was hallucinating and is still wandering around somewhere, maybe in whatever is at the other end of that culvert. That would at least make sense.

Blizzard of Chizz Is right about that spot. I worked in Hoover for about a decade, and drove past that spot too many times. Hoover PD sits on the opposite side of the median and runs radar on the North/East traffic. I lost a wheel cover right where she stopped, but in the median, about ten years ago. There is a neighborhood through the woods there, and that about it.

Now that's a strong possibility. Mushrooms are causing hallucinations. Also, some thc and cbd gummies that are sold in convenience stores.

So your 3 most likely scenarios at this point are:
Aliens
Midget
Mushrooms

State troopers are also in that section every day.
