What the frick is wrong with you? A patient is laying there struggling to breathe, is begging for help, calls six times, they finally come but instead of doing anything they dick around laughing for a fricking hour while he lays suffering before they decide to bother taking the effort to call 911.

You think that's OK? What if that was your dad or granddad in that bed? You'd be fine with his caretakers laughing while he was struggling to breathe?

Many cultures see the Nursing Homes as a foreign concept. They think "Why isn't he provided for at home surrounded by loved ones" ? His children whom he thought would provide for him just as he did for them as helpless children?

Instead they dump you off at a facility where people have to treat this with some semblance of emotional distance or they burn out. Or break down.

Those cultures are thinking correctly. We don't handle death well. Candidly, it has become BIG business. Look at the dollars spent for the final 3 months of life. Stats are available.

No, but its ignorant to pretend that certain details don't make a story more or less tragic.

Imagine this being a serial killer, or a 5 year old girl suffering from leukemia, etc.

There's tragic irony with a WWII vet who fought for someone's life and freedoms, having that same someone laugh as they die.

It'd be no different from a story where a charity worker who's devote their life to feeding the homeless having a homeless person watch them dying in the streets and laughing. Obviously it'd be tragic even if the person dying in the streets wasn't a charity worker, but its ignorant to deny that there's an extra layer is tragedy there.

Swear on my life that's not what I was implying. I refused to watch anyway so I can't comment on their behavior.

My very 1st job was in a Nursing Home / Hospital & the entire concept of a Nursing Home mostly upsets me. Coming from someone who loves/ respect the elderly.
