The nurse is an idiot for flying.
Let's see, you work daily with a patient that has ebola, the patient dies, you get a fever and you board a flight anyway?????

Vinson told CBS Dallas Fort Worth that she was feeling ill before boarding her flight. She had a low grade fever, but she said that officials told her it was okay to get on the plane. Vinson told CBS that she called the CDC several times with concerns.
This stupid bitch knew she had been exposed Ebola and she knew she was not feeling well BEFORE boarding a flight? frick her.

If true, they are looking worse and worse. Lots of contradictions coming from the group who is running this show. They're as bad as fema.

Hence what I wrote a couple days ago:

quote:
I'm comforted by governments around the world taking this so seriously:
quote: Philippine Health Secretary Enrique Ona said authorities will ask more than 1,700 Filipinos working in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to observe themselves for at least 21 days for Ebola symptoms in those countries first if they plan to return home. Once home, they should observe themselves for another 21 days and then report the result of their self-screening to health authorities to be doubly sure they have not been infected, he said, adding that hospitals which would deal with any Ebola patients have already been identified in the Philippines.
I'm sure those 1,700 Filipinos will be all over this voluntary plan, a grand experiment in patient compliance. There won't be any deniers who insist their flu-like symptoms are just a cold or flu. There won't be any who think they're strong like bull and have urgent business that overrides the slim chance they contracted the disease. With measures like these, can there be any doubt the exponential growth will be stopped?

If the GOP had not cut the CDC budget, they would not have told her she could fly.

Fever in general terms is anything above 100.3; that said given her history she should not have boarded that plane.

The nurse still should have known better, even with CDC permission.
I hope she makes it through ok, but I feel like common sense should have told her to stay off that plane.

I hope the 130 or so people on the plane enjoyed being a lab experiment.

If so, that is utterly infuriating. The screening questions being used in ERs are for patients that have a POSSIBLE exposure, and the fever is of 101.5. The nurse had direct contact with the patient. It shouldn't have mattered what the exact temperature was, the nurse was symptomatic.
I seriously hope the nurse's question about flying was just brushed off by a dumb arse lower-level who was too stupid to put 2 and 2 together. If the higher ups at the CDC were actually informed of her symptoms and still let her fly, we are all screwed.

Shouldn't any healthcare worker who has cared for an Ebola patient be automatically quarantined for the 21 days or whatever the incubation period is to be safe?

You would think that direct exposure + anything other than "I feel absolutely fan-fricking-tastic right now" would give pause to the cdc

Colossal failure by the CDC to allow innocent people to be put at risk. But, it will be glossed over because this administration can do no wrong.

She's a bigger piece of shite than Duncan.

The CDC is a fricking joke.

Didn't she fly to Cleveland to attend a wedding?
Edit - she went home to plan wedding. But she did Treat Duncan for two days without proper gear b/c hospital didn't have gear
