What about Sheriff's office, harbor police, state troopers, Port police, HANO, college police, etc

Nobody wants to work in New Orleans because the DA will destroy you, it doesn’t matter if you’re with an agency other than NOPD. They’re all still under his jurisdiction.

Thugs target HANO officers as well.

The pay is also low.

I remember when I was retiring Jefferson & Parish along with Kenner PD did offer higher salaries versus BRPD and NOPD.

If you were a young person in middle 2,000’s you could work for JPSO and start at a higher pay scale. with a sheriff that supports you vs NOPD low pay, low morale, mayors that do not support the officers.

Orleans sheriffs office is only qualified under POST to work the jail. There are some that may be fully certified from another agency but I’d guess 90% are just jailer certified.

All those other agencies outside of state police are just there for their specific area.

State police were there but destroya wanted full control of the tax money from the FQ which is why they’re gone now.
