If a shield volcano traverses over a caldera due to plate tectonics, what happens?

A big pile of rubble scraped up and drooped into a basket. 2 points.

At zero gravity, would mercury and/or molten lava turn into a liquid?

How much pressure is being exerted? None? Maybe?

I understand there is volcanic activity on the dark side of the moon? True? Or is it we just cant see it according to Pink Floyd?

Pretty sure there was volcanic activity when the Moon first formed, seeing as it was magma. After that it cooled, and now craters are only made from impacts.

Minimal, 27kys per million?

Also, if there were liquid hot magma flowing down the streets of LA and you were there, would you need to follow a basketball to tell which direction was downhill, or would your innate sense of direction and perspective be enough?

It's even funnier that Pectus isn't getting some of the references in this thread.

I don't know this. If I did, I wouldn't be able to do a thread like this.

What's the chemical composition of your run-of-the-mill garden-variety liquid hot magma?

Oh, I get it. I've seen every geology film.

Sometimes we have a film night and sit there bashing the film...and treating it like it's a comedy.

Reason I axed. Water in space acts like mercury in gravity.

BTW... I made up the 27kys per million

Great question. Magma is pretty much the same at least in the mantle. It is made of peridotite. Peridotite is a silicate rich in iron and manganese. So Fe, Mn, Si, and O. 2 of those are some of the mot abundant elements in the crust!

Lavas are very different. But that's another question.
