Mitch the bitches 3 year hiring freeze had zero to do with it. Huh?

He was given $40 million by the feds. He could've used that to hire cops.

I mean, it's clearly a part of it.
Mitch is a disgrace and Latoya will only be worse (somehow). I'm not optimistic, although I'd certainly like to be.

I was optimistic until last summer.

Being in the top five or higher for murder rate is not "typical."

The fact that this has to be spelled out for anyone is fricking staggering.

I was talking about crime that impacts tourists or locals that go into the city to visit since this board has an unhealthy obsession with #boycottNola which is a false narrative. Obviously the murder rate is absurd but it's not like tourists and law-abiding locals are being murdered every night. It's the thug vs thug culture that account for the vast majority of murders in the city. The crimes you might fall victim to as a tourist or local in NOLA is no different than the crimes you may fall victim to in other big cities across the country

He could have hired 40 new officers for the price of the statue removal.

Wasn't there a residency and college degree requirement or was that removed?

Well, when you have a mayor who doesn't support you, restricts what you can do, and constantly panders to those whom overwhelmingly commit violent crime, tied in with the absolute hatred of po-lees and refusal to cooperate with authorities, who would want to work there?

if memory serves they relaxed the residency requirement

they are boosting officer pay as well:

the police shortfall is a problem but its not quite as bad as some make it out to be. That said it is troubling and needs to be addressed by the next mayor as well

500 cops short seems like kind of a big deal. I think that's close to a 30% reduction in staff.

You're posting nothing but stupidity in this thread. NOLA has clearly scarred you in some way.

ETA: your downvote is unnecessary. We all know you're being a little bitch about it.

I love spending time in Nola. And I won't stop spending time in Nola. But to say it isn't a dumpster fire and act like there isn't a crime problem is laughable.

Just like a double shooting before noon on a Saturday is laughable. Yet the baghdad bobs are always out in full force.
