Only because you haven't been mugged. When you spend the 72 hours following your meal in a medically induced coma, it is hard to suffer indigestion.

The people who come to NOLA on vacation and eat at Walk Ons and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. I shake my head every time I pass there and it is full of tourists.

I love it, we get their money and I can walk into La Boca or Dick and Jenny's and get a table (on a weeknight). Win win.

That's a strange and angry and questionable statement.

Well deserved accolades for the city. Tourism numbers keep going up, and this is why.

So what do you think about it is overated? Have you eaten anywhere in Nola other than in the quarter and fried grease houses? What about other cities did you like about their restaurants?

Any and every serious publication/food writer/magazine, etc will have Nola ranked anywhere from 2 to 5 as a food city.

Now I'm not talking about home cooking as that is stupid to get into anyway.

Wonder where it would rank if they also surveyed the people that got shot, robbed, beaten, and/or raped when they visited....

Also, you can easily catch the AIDs in BRLA, which is #1

I would agree NOLA is a little overrated as a food city in a manner of speaking.

The top end restaurants are outstanding, no doubt about that, but the "street food" as called here is nothing special. A city like Austin with all the food trucks would easily outpace NOLA in that measure.

You can get a really hearty meal at Taco Bell for way less than $10. C'mon lakeboy!

You can try to throw out stats of the best part of NOLA but none of that will matter if tourist are scared to come here.

These videos are being seen by people across the region, which is our primary tourist base.

I have received several texts from friends from other states asking when NOLA got so bad, I never got those texts during the countless other incidents in the city.

It is only one of the top 40 most dangerous cities in the world and the 3rd most dangerous city in the USA.

#2 and #3 directly lead to #1 of robbed/stabbed/shot/murdered by the good boys on their way to class because you're either in a food coma or drunk
