Correct me if I am wrong, doesn’t heard immunity require the vast majority of the population to actually contract the disease and develop antibodies? If so, how does Teedy expect this to occur if everyone is wearing masks? Are masks supposed to prevent the spread ? This is what happens when you fill your staff with yes people and the media gives you a free pass on everything. Someone should jump into the mayor’s race NOW.

Experts say that a vaccination rate of at least 75%
do they though? i would assume 70% is what would be necessary if you assumed that natural immunity existed for those that already had it

Well, when there are no republicans left in the city, who do you expect to run against her?

Based off of the 2019 census data, NOLA has ~390k residents. 20% of them are 18 and under, which leaves roughly 312k residents over 18. If they need to reach 75% to get to herd immunity, it should be limited to the residents actually eligible for the vaccine. That would be 234k residents needing vaccines.

ldh shows 167,050 NOLA residents have at least 1 shot ~53.5%
ldh shows 139,301 NOLA residents have completed the vaccine ~59.6%

If it needs to be 75% of all NOLA residents, then you would need almost the entire adult population to get the vaccine as they only have a 5% margin since those 16 and under cannot get the vaccine.

Better go ahead and cancel Mardi Gras 2022, decisions have to be made in the next few months.

Yeah, we're not getting Mardi Gras in 2022.

I hate to say this, but it probably won't look like pre-COVID Mardi Gras until 2024.

Probably because the OP used all caps in his thread title.

You're wrong, herd immunity can be achieved through vaccination. LINK
