It's ridiculous. I assume those were a couple of firefighters in the basket of the boom lift. I would assume firefighters get extensive safety training, but that guy didn't look like he knew what he was doing. Or maybe he didn't give a frick because it was 3:00am and he was wearing a mask. One of the photos shows them lifting the top half of the obelisk, but half of the bottom is tilted off of the base in the opposite direction of the top half. Basically, the bottom half is leaning to the right and the top half is leaning left. It looked highly unstable. I wish there was a video available of the whole operation. fricking morons.
I just read an article on The Advocate app written from an hour long interview with Mitch Landrieu. In addition to being a lying sack of shite, the guy is just a complete sanctimonious prick. I don't know how he can say some of the shite he's says with a straight face. At the close of the article, he actually had the balls to accuse other people trying to use this situation for political gain.
I already didn't like him, but he's really pissing me off lately. I'll be happy when this guy goes away.
