NOLA coronavirus testing

I’ve heard that they are still doing test thru labcorp and other companies that take 3-4 days to get results. Has Oschner or anyone else in NOLA started in house lab testing? Labs with in house testing have a 4-6 hour turnaround.
If it’s the former, expect more than exponential numbers when in house testing is initiated.

Tests in Charlotte NC and Tampa FL area have a <6 hour turnaround currently.

Do you realize you have 400 cases, 10 deaths, and the numbers lag by 5 days compared to other states? You sound like the national news who were relieved when Katrina didn’t hit NOLA directly, and didn’t know the significance of the levees breaking

Ochsner is being sent out of state. Which is really just a delay of a few hours because its put on a plane I assume. Not sure at what rate the labs will increase capacity.

Do you really think it’s just “a few hours” to fly a sample to an out of state lab? As opposed to taking an elevator to the lab at the hospital.
Not only that, but when you send tests out like that to a third party, you are waiting in a line for processing along with other hospitals around the region.
