I am meeting a group of guys from back home in FL in Nola for a bachelor party the weekend after Labor Day. I used to live in Nola but from the stuff I’ve read here, seems Latoya Da Destroya still has her grasp on the city From reopening. What is open in Nola to do right now? Are the breweries open if they serve food? Bayou Tech Brewery has been busy every weekend. What about “bars” that serve “food?” I’m worried we will be stuck at the house drinking out of a rented keg. Please tell me I’m wrong.

No you’re not.

I mean, maybe you are. But you won’t be going out.

Come in town Labor Day weekend instead. There are going to be a lot of parties kept on the down low. Glitter and coke are optional.

Labor Day weekend was avoided for that exact reason.

Places are open, but most require reservations. Wrong Iron is walk up and they usually stay open pretty late.

Why would a group of guys from Florida drive to NOLA to meet up for the weekend?

Why not just stay in Florida?

Bars are closed and our governor won’t open them unless you host a private party for politically connected donors.

Then you can have a bar

Wrong Iron is open but you have to be seated at a table and have someone bring you drinks. As if the service wasn't bad enough there before, it's way worse now. They always have some good visuals there though. Barcadia was open in the warehouse district, and I went a couple weeks ago. It was decent. The outside bars on the lakefront have had a good crowd on Fridays and Saturdays recently and have live music. You can also walk up to the bars and get drinks too.

Post this on the food board for more responses
It’s hit or miss on what’s open. You will find some bars open as mentioned before but it will be mellow.

If the place can pass off as a restaurant then it might be open (Tchop house?) but you definitely need to go to their websites and see.

I had a makeshift bach party a couple weekends ago for a buddy because Vegas March Madness got canceled. We did Friday night NOLA and Saturday in Biloxi- sadly Biloxi was 100 times better.

Having bars open to actually sit at or walk up and get a drink from the bartender makes a huge difference in service when you're at the casino. Drink service wasn't bad at Harrahs NOLA, but it was pretty shitty not to just be able to go anywhere and get a round, and the shitty drink ordering system doesn't work half the time. I would recommend Biloxi over NOLA by a large margin right now.

If you do go to NOLA and are around the casino area Ernst Cafe has $1 domestic beers and some other pretty cheap specials. We also had a great dinner at Cooter Browns fwiw.
