No Whiz Bang Enhanced Graphics in 1918

Hurricane One in 1918 heavily damaged Lake Charles, LA and completely leveled towns 50 miles from the coast. Yet it is classed as a Cat 3. I'm sure that whiz bang doppler would have found Cat 5 if not 6 winds in it somewhere,
FWIW if you know anything about wood, it's all longleaf virgin forest lumber used in those days when the largest sawmills in the South were located there.

I was only 7 but remember it vividly. We were already battling the beginnings of the Depression when the Hurricane came thru and completely leveled our house in Sulphur. I can remember my dad and pow pow packing us up in the middle of the night to haul us north to higher ground. My grandmother, who was a degenerate gambler and prostitute, was playing slots at the L’Auberge and pow pow had to run in there and drag her out kicking in screaming.
