Been putting in extra OT at the plant and refinanced the Suburban to save up for this. It should all pay off when Caydynn hits the bigs.

Agree 100%, I have 2 friends that had kids in baseball and softball *another in cheer stuff* The money spent on travel, ungodly amount of new equipment and travel cost was insane.

The interesting thing they said is that high school coaches in the area would not even consider having a kid on the team that didn't play travel ball.

I was in the Dominican earlier this month on business and I’ll never go back.

I sure as hell wouldn’t send a kid there.

It does have some very beautiful places but (for me) it is too deeply in the Third World.

I’ve got the same personal policy about Jamaica.

Risk:Reward doesn’t work for me.

I watched my uncle stay glued to his phone watching a gamecast of his 10 year old grandson's baseball game.

Gamecast. For a fricking 10 year old little league baseball game.

TBF grandkids can be like crack cocaine. The bawest of baws will gladly sit through a six hour dance recital for 30 seconds of little Braylee as a butterfly.

Travel ball is basically vacations and a social event. Yes, the kids are playing whatever sport but the parents of the kids typically become great friends and enjoy hanging out at the ballpark together.

It’s not how I want to spend my weekends but some folks just love sports and enjoy the camaraderie.

I work with a lady in my office who is on the cusp of getting shitcanned because she has two kids in travel ball and absolutely INSISTS on going to every single fricking practice and game/tournament. She hits the door every day about 2:30-3:00 pm and misses about two full days every week going to/returning from out of town tournaments.

For example I have not seen her in the office in about two weeks because the spring tourneys are hitting right now.

Going to be hard to pay for Jaxxon’s $350 Marucci bat when you’re drawing unemployment. And she’s totally oblivious to the fact she’s on the brink. Just YOLOing out there in the bleachers living her best life.

Not true. At all. A lot of times the parents are somewhat polite cutthroat backstabbers trying to get [fill in travel ball name here] more playing time at the expense of [fill in travel ball name here]. Very little loyalty, a lot of fake.
