Train and workout are words that should never be associated with a 9 year old or an 11 year old. I'm all about competition and pushing kids to be "winners". However, I'm not training a 9 year old to run the fricking 40. You got the kid pulling sleds and chutes? Hell where would you find a chute small enough for a 9 year old? Working on stance and jumps to shave a couple tenths off the time? Make sure the kid has good running form. Relaxed arm, with a consistent "hip to lip" motion.

People who "train" and "workout" 9 year olds are weird. Kids should be playing, not training. That'll come later in life.

Quantum leap much.

Training and working out is what she wants and at her pace and her choice. For the record she chooses the level of workouts and the sports he participates in. No one pushes her, it is just made accessible. There is no personal trainer involved and no chutes or any other more advance equipment.

She was not trained to run the forty. She was timed just to see what her clocking would be since this seems to be a popular gauge o athletic ability.

Much of her training has been in the context of just doing fun activities- trampoline, climbing monkey bars, running pass routes, chasing flyballs in the outfield, gymnastics etc. There is no set workout plan. It remains fun without the pressure of having to fulfill someone else's expectations.

In case you are wondering she is a strailght A student who is a high achiever in all aspects of her ife.

Ye, hand time with a stop watch. While it was not electroniclly timed I have learned from those willing to respond in a reasonable manner that even if it was slightly off and was actually in the 5.4-5.5 range its still very good.

If that's the case then that's not training. It's a kid being active. You don't have to dress it up to something it's not. Workout warrior? I mean I know tons of kids who have this same mentality... It's called being a kid.

Btw 5.2 is not believable. If she is that fast, maybe she should be training... Might set Olympic records?

Why is this on this board???

Oh and I call bull shite on a 9 yr old girl running a 5.2. That would mean she is pretty much the fastest kid of all time.
