Lisa Lampanelli was one of the ones who started it. Her sets always included her talking about sex with black men. It was edgy back in the day because it was a woman joking about sex with black men which wasn’t as publicly acceptable as it is today

Met Nikki in the Houston airport in March 2020.. it was one week before the world shut down, and she was in line at Starbucks with her then-sidekick on her podcast, this guy Andrew.. i actually recognized him first, we started talking and then she came over and i met her.. she is tiny in person, was dressed in all black with thick eyeglasses and obviously just way dressed-down for the flight she’d just gotten off of.. they invited me to their Houston show that night, but i was getting ready to fly back to NOLA.. one thing ill never forget is that Nikki’s sidekick Andrew is the first person where instead of shaking hands, we literally tapped elbows and laughed, since we had just heard about the new virus spreading around .. same with Nikki, except she and i actually banged.. j/k, we just tapped elbows as well .
