Even if they did, you would still have a problem with it.
Yes, you’re correct. I have a problem with Americans being divided up by race, religion, etc. when we should be coming together.

Can you point me to time in history when this song was adopted as the black national anthem?
1917

I’ll listen to your little song when we can have separate water fountains, restrooms, restaurants, hotels, and schools.
Why would we do that? That's ridiculous, and stupid. Everyone deserves to be treated equal.

Lucky you. That is exactly what Lift Every Voice is about.

So why the special treatment for backs?

As a middle aged white male in 2024, I would LOVE to be treated equally.

Because they’re special. Democrats love special people.

There is no special treatment. It's just a song with a good message.

Singing 2 songs is not segregation. That's not what segregation is.
That’s exactly what it is. Especially when one is the black national anthem.
The National Anthem is inclusive.
Have a 2nd anthem for colored people is separate and divisive.

Just their own separate national anthem for them, and them only. Just the future MLK Jr dreamed of

Lucky you. In 2024, everyone can be treated equal in America. There are no discriminatory laws in effect anymore.

Actually, no. If everyone is singing it at the Superbowl, how is it for black people and only black people. Everyone can sing the song, together. Which is exactly what MLK dreamed of.

I wonder how many people will boycott. I’m sure it’ll kill the SB ratings like so much.
Take a stand America! End wokism. Is that the buzzword we still use?
Either say you support a separate national anthem for black people or don't. Have an actual opinion.

Do you know why it's called the Black national anthem?

1. There already exists a national anthem for everyone
2. It's being referred to as the "black national anthem"...I don't think the popular assumption here is that it's for everyone.
ETA: I guess I'm open to the idea it's a marketing fail...but

Why would anyone beside black people have in interest in singing a black national anthem?

So glad I never watch the NFL. Unfortunately, it seems college ball is getting out of hand too. Before long, none of it will be watchable.

That's what it was termed in 1917, when it was needed.
Just like when the Star Spangled Banner was written, it was not written with black, Asian, Hispanic, etc in mind. Yet everyone is allowed to sing it together in current times. The same goes for Lift Every Voice

There is ZERO chance I will ever sing along during the black anthem. As a matter of fact, I might take that time to hit the head before the game.

And was never brought up again until St Floyd died for your sins in 2020.

Because the lyrics is something that everyone can come together on. The song is literally about joining together to sing about hope for a better future.
Do you find that message unrelatable?
