I am looking to get a new washer and dryer. I know we have had numerous threads on this, so downvote away because I didn't book mark those threads. What are the O-T's recommendation for a quality pair other than speed queen? I know speed queen is the cream of the crop, but the ole lady doesn't want speed queen.

People shite on them but I've had my Samsung pair for 5 years with no problems so far.

How long did you have the first pair? Did you have any issues cleaning at all?

5 yrs...and they were running like a champ when I left. Never had 1 issue. Mine was a top loader washer. In graphite.

The washing machine had some type of self cleaning cycle. I think we ran it once in that 5 years.

I have Samsung as well and they've been great for 3 years. I only wish I went with a top load washer. If you drop something, it doesn't hit the floor like it does in a front load.

I've got the top load washer with the clear lid. I like it much better than front loading although I really wanted the front loader at first.

Speed Queen washer with agitator (official washing machine of the OT). Try to get a 2017 model or prior... they changed the agitation in 2018 so it doesn't get the dirtiest of clothes as clean. Still head/shoulders above anything else though.

Sorry but she just doesn't realize it. If she's looking for something functional and out performs the competition, Speed Queen. If she wants something pretty to look at, everything else.

I want one with an agitator. I have a front load one right now and it is not cleaning our clothes very well. It still runs fine, but has a seal leak that the repair guy can't seem to fix.

I agree with you, but I can't seem to convince her. She's looking at Maytag right now. I am more or less looking for a good second option if I can't change her "speed queen's are for grandma's" perception.

Just buy her a speed queen and have it delivered. Pre 2017 if you can find it. She'll use it, realize she was wrong and you'll get really clean clothes.

Go to junkyard.
Get Maytag emblem.
Glue on Speed Queen.
Grandma's clothes were always clean!

I just bought washer and dryer 3 weeks ago. I researched beforehand and went with LG (Steam) but the concensus was that you can't go wrong with either LG or Maytag.

I already have one...married her 8 years ago but can't tell a difference in my clothes getting any cleaner.

We have Samsung front loaders for about 6 years now without any issues but they don't clean worth a damn. Will never go front loader again
