I'm in the definitely fricked category. Playa Mujeres booked June 29th to July 6th. Ain't flying out in a hurricane on July 6th, so now I have $2,700 worth of one-way flights hedged to get us home on July 4th.

Just out of curiosity what hedge flights did you book? My flight back is on the 7th on United Cancun to Houston.

The last thing I want is a pissed off girlfriend in Mexico because we cannot get home.

SWA July 4th. Flight 1135 to Atlanta, then home to MSY.

Good luck. As soon as 95 was announced yesterday, they started rapidly disappearing. I was even trying to split my family up and fly out early July 5th but couldn't do it fast enough.

Be forewarned...

The cancan airport will kick you out if your flight is delayed overnight as they said their airport is not a hotel.

Looking last minute for a hotel there maybe not awesome

Got an early morning 7/5 on Southwest from Cancun to Houston.

My trip is non-refundable because I wanted the free transfer from the airport and thought there would be nothing this early in the season... Lessons learned

What’s the timing on this? Supposed to fly into Punta Cana next Friday. Is it supposed to turn west before it gets there?

Everyone with a trip to the Caribbean in July can only blame themselves. It’s objectively the worst time of year to travel there.

Is this the official 'every 14 day outlook that the GFS spins up a thunderstorm we talk about it' thread?

I'm glad we're streamlining one thread now and saving bandwidth, don't get me wrong. Just want to make sure i know where to check.

It's pretty rare for any significant storm systems to develop in late June / early July. We're not talking about September here

There is a lot more support than a single GFS fantasy run.

Trust me... I was supposed to go to some War College think-tank bullshite the first week of June. Otherwise, I would have gone to the tropics then and to the Montana house this time of year.

We go somewhere in the Caribbean every year the week of July 4th and this is the first time we’ve ever had a storm in the forecast.

June- October is the worst time to go. If there isn’t a storm threat it’s hot as balls. Next time go in the winter

I can get a full refund on my trip To Secrets Maroma in Cancun as long as I cancel by 4:00PM Monday. By then, they should have a better idea of track. I called southwest and they said that if I need to cancel they will just give me flight credit which I’m fine with. We will reschedule our trip a couple weeks later if we end up having to cancel for next weekend.

Most of our trip can be rebooked, too. I’m kind of hoping they get some cancellations out of this and the rooms we originally wanted become available
