I honestly give the human race about 1000 years or less

The term artificial intelligence is being misused. AI will eventually be more cabable than the human brain, “the singularity,” but at this time it serves a simpler role as an “auxiliary accelerator,” as mentioned in the article. Counter measures, also using this tool, are being very effective and make the title of the article a misleading overstatement.
quote:
First of all, we should clearly distinguish between Strong AI—artificial intelligence, which is capable of replacing the human brain—and the generally misused ‘AI’ term that has become amorphous and ambiguous,” explained Kolochenko in a statement emailed to Gizmodo.

He says criminals have already been using simple machine-learning algorithms to increase the efficiency of their attacks, but these efforts have been successful because of basic cyber security deficiencies and omissions in organizations. To Kolochenko, machine learning is merely an “auxiliary accelerator.”

Politically, AI could be used to sway popular opinion, create highly targeted propaganda, and spread fake—but perhaps highly believable—posts and videos.
I can only imagine CptBengal's threads in 10 years.

or is CptBengal just an AI bot?

gist of it is humans as a species are not smart enough to be able to create rules for AIs that will protect us from them. They will be able to make logic leaps to circumvent any rules we can come up with.
To an extent that's accurate.
The real issue is - its a race. Whoever develops the first AI will essentially rule the world (assuming they can control it). Thus the priority is on finishing first. Everyone is racing to do just that. Countries, Corporations, hacker groups, rogue elements, etc.
If we instead slowed it down, co-operated and built it right, I think we could largely get it right.
Its a risk that the entire species is gambling on - I don't think the rewards should go to anyone but the entire species.
Anyone who is interested in this needs to do themselves a favor an read Superintelligence by Nick Bostrom. It can be a little dry/academic at times, but does a great job of breaking some things down.
