I am not. What was supposed to be a joke never hit home. I guess I forgot to use the sarcasm font.

If I was actually concerned with blackouts due to heat, I wouldn't be moving to Nola in a few weeks.

They will move the first weekend up a weekend. So you will have MG Weekend 1, Super Bowl, Mardi Gras weekend 2. This is how it was done last time this date was an issue.

It doesn't say specifically because of heat but 1,462 outages during fair weather. 2,599 overall.

I can't say I know for a fact or read anything about it but my buddy that works in Nola and works for Entergy (IT) is the one who mentioned it to me when I mentioned where I will be moving to shortly in Nola.

Entergy is trying to build a new power plant. All of their employees are being trained to say stuff like this in order to get public support.

Anytime you have unseasonably high temps, you run the risk for a blackout. This is not a NOLA thing.

Crews working on "a scheduled reliability project" diverted a load of power to a different transformer. But, as the city heated up, "the load increased," Entergy said

They don't do these projects in the middle of summer for this exact reason. they did it recently because they thought the load was lower. Higher than expected temps blew that plan up.

But seriously -- will NO be able to keep the lights on?

By the number of blackouts the city has just because of heat....No.

Does this happen a lot on NCIS New Orleans or in some other show or movie set in New Orleans? This sounds like some bullshite you would perceive happening because you saw it on TV..

Also, see here...

Hundreds of Carnival krewe members are planning to make some big adjustments as the NFL prepares to vote tomorrow on another Super Bowl for New Orleans. After an 11-year hiatus, the big game is coming back, but it's going to dethrone an entire weekend of Orleans Carnival parades. It is one of the biggest spectacles in sports. But in five-and-a-half years, if all goes as expected, Super Bowl 58 will collide with the greatest free show on earth. The Super Bowl in 2024 will fall on Feb. 4, 10 days before Mardi Gras, and will require about 13 Orleans Carnival crews to move ahead one week.

New Orleans has hosted more Super Bowls than any other city right?

Yes.
It really is great for the event. I've read the articles and have a friend who works for the sports foundation and the NFL, corporate types, beer & liquor companies, and especially the media love when it is in Nola.

All of the events happen in a small area. The press conferences, private parties(and there are a ton of party venues), practices, hotels, etc are all practically within walking distance.

I've heard about how many cities, especially in Miami, they had to drive all over different areas to do their thing.
And yes, the weather, great restaurants, and hospitality help.

All right there close to the stadium too. It really is a perfect city for it.

Dallas had to suck too. No one likes Arlington.
