If this is surprising to anyone then they've never done a single bit of residential or commercial construction. Just wait till you see how much it's going to cost the city for this freakin fountain and it's upkeep.

Bernie is a pretty big douche bag FWIW. Racial extremists. Please. The only racial extremists are the losers that couldn't live with a few statutes up.

I'm sure the guy who owns the Hotel Modern gave a big chunk of that private donation. I know he was willing to fund the removal of the Lee statue.

Some friends on Facebook who were gung ho about taking them down are changing their tune now

ETA: it wouldn't hurt to change the thread title to something like "Confederate monument removal totaled 2.1 million"

Hear say around the city. You may be able to find something about it if you google. When this was all being discussed in late 2015, the yankee owner offered to have it removed.

There was a group of people last year that blocked the development of a new soccer stadium at The Fly that was 100% privately funded with $4 million of private money which Would have benefited the community. This particular group of people blocked it and shut it down it would not let it happen however Where are these people now? where is the outrage now that the city just spent $2 million removing monuments that does not benefit the city whatsoever.
