I’m not saying what he said didn’t come off as somewhat racist. However, Blacks do commit a majority of the crime in Nola

Tourism leaders have proposed a higher hotel tax, but Cantrell says that wouldn't be enough.
What a shocker

I think we may end up losing some of it if we gone use it soon.
I responded before reading the next response. This thread also took a weird turn.
I’m not reading anybody’s articles but the bloated and inept government of New Orleans is the reason it’s not as good as it could be. The tax money from Mardi Gras and other events should be reapportioned. That’s a lot of money for them to be filling people’s pockets instead of genuine visual progress.

Sorry my facts upset you.
Blacks routinely rape, murder, rob, and terrorize whites in New Orleans
Do you have stats to support your facts claim?
Stats that prove black on white crime is the bigger problem in New Orleans? More than any other larger city.
Just rambling and regurgitating hate from your mouth doesn’t equate to facts.
To the OP.
Good, New Orleans deserves more money.
The Fire Department alone is 34% behind neighboring departments, on salary. And compared to the work load, it’s not even close. NOFD runs 60,000 more calls a year than Jefferson’s considerably smaller department.
Recently Fire received a 10% increase, along with departments across the city.
There is a plan to add another 15% to Fire, by Mayor Cantrell. She needs to find money somewhere to pay city employees what they deserve.
So far, she’s far above anything Mitch was. She’s less of a politician and more of a real person who seems to understand the real problems.
Streets are an issue, but leaving city employees salaries under a livable wage, trumps streets all day.
I hope they tax the wheels off tourist. Tourist have been catered to for too long, while local New Orleanians have been on a back burner.

New Orleans' mayor says the city deserves to get a bigger percentage of the $166 million collected each year from a 15 percent surcharge on hotel rooms.
I agree.

Can’t argue with this and the city also need to tax the shite out of these Air B&B’s as well.
We need to fix streets, pay police, fire and EMS, as well as hire more first responders, competent city employees and SWB employees.

Mitch could have fixed a few pumps with the money he spent taking down the statues. I guess flooding isn't as important an issue as Robert E. Lee.

Congrats on having enough black welfare leeches to vote in predictably inept and corrupt black politicians. Black people ruined New Orleans. Take away all the the black welfare leeches and the city becomes world class over night

Of the total $165.8 million...
18.4 million to the city
15.2 million to Orleans Parish Schools (collected by the system and allocated out to the charters)
5.5 million to the RTA
44.6 million to the Morial Convention Center
53.4 million to the LSED (stadiums and arenas)
16.6 million to the Convention and Visitors Bureau
11.8 million to New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corp
400K to the New Orleans Multicultural Tourism network

Roads and potholes aren't fixed correctly to begin with, making them worse. And you have complete morons working for the sewage and water board.
If they fix all the potholes, how will the water drain from the streets? That’s Cantrell’s master plan that Mitch initiated.

Weird how other cities do it with a fraction of the tourism revenue.

Other cities have other sources of revenue from local, state a feds. As well as higher incomes coming from their demographics and mileages and taxes.
New Orleans isn’t poor by any means, they’re just irresponsible with managing money.

What's weird is how the state gets such a large share of NOLA tourist dollars. Like Chicago, for instance, it's Cook County and city government levying most of the taxes, not the IL state government.
10% of NOLA tourism tax dollars going to the city of NOLA or Orleans Parish seems ridiculously low. From an outsider's perspective, it seems the state government is the shady party in all of this.
