Our first one flopped.

LINK

So we bought 7 more.

quote:

Juneau’s first electric bus hasn’t spent much time on the road since its debut in the spring of 2021 thanks to persistent mechanical problems that have kept it idled again this winter. Still, the city has bought seven more electric buses — from a different vendor.

Capital Transit Superintendent Rich Ross says he remains enthusiastic about electrifying the fleet.

“There’s going to be learning curves along the way,” Ross said. “So while this bus has been a lemon — somewhat of a lemon — we also understand the technology is improving in leaps and bounds as time goes on.”

Where in your pixie dust world do you think "grant money" from the Dept of Transportation comes from?

lol, park city and New Orleans are very similar.

Yeah shithole vs one of the nicest places around. But PC is also one of the more difficult environments to operate an EV fleet and as a proof of concept it’s a good example of how well it works for local transportation needs.

If you keep them talking long enough you'll find out Democrats are horribly uninformed people.

Aside from this probably being stupid for New Orleans in particular with all its other issues, electric buses make a lot of sense in many towns.

It’s actually one of the worst applications. You’ve got a vehicle that’s suppose to be driving all day, but they can’t do that. They also struggle with hot and cold weather. So so you have to have more buses to account for the downtime.

I don’t think you understand how this really works. An EV will fricking destroy an ICE vehicle that spends 80% of its day idling I. Productive time and efficiency. You don’t need more. They’ve been running these in Park City, in the mountains and freezing arse cold for years. It works. And the reduction in noise and fumes is pretty nice.

Why would a bus, with routes and scheduled (lol) time tables, be idling 80% of the time?

I know you like electric but you know this isn't a good fit for NOLA. Well...except for the politician money grab part.

It’s a federal grant!!! It’s already going to to somebody. Some city in the USA. Why complain about something good happening to Louisiana?

Because it is the RTA.

A good 25% of it's time is spent idling
