ZZZ, I don't remember all that. But including those, an airman would make $17/hour. Do you honestly think someone pressing buttons on a register is earning almost that of an airplane engine repairman?
I'm not disagreeing, I just didn't know if your figure included all that.
In fact, I served for 6 years. Oddly enough, as a jet engine/helicopter mechanic.

I wish they would raise it to $20, fire all the shitty workers and start over again with people who want to work and have an inkling of an idea of what customer service is.

You can raise it to $30, and it's still not going to make that shite taste any better.

Pay them all 15 an hour. All McDonald's will do is cut their hours. No one allowed over 20 a week.

Omg. People working actual customer service jobs that require them to deal with real, ignorant assholes on the phone for extended periods of time and do things like troubleshoot computers or help people not lose their homes to foreclosure, don't make that much

Obamacare is going to make that happen anyways.

I don't believe anyone working full time should earn a wage at or below poverty level. Many are unskilled because the resources are not available to them that would allow them to learn a skill. For many there was never a choice. They had to take what they could get. At one time schools in Louisiana had classes that taught skills. Those classes were called vocational education. I would guess that benefit went away because the haves felt threatened by the have-nots.
I call it the plantation mentality.

I started out at $10.50/hr in 1986 and maxed out at $19/hr (down from $21) after moving from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Won't count home health which was pay per visit and hourly average was about $8 most days.

Well today is the day. Was anyone not able to get their sausage egg and cheese bagel this morning?

So far, I've only heard of one McDonald's on the Westbank that is "striking". Has anyone heard anything else? It doesn't seem to be gaining much traction as far as I can tell.

What? This wouldn't save McD's any money at all.
If you meant to say, McD's would cut their operating hours it would, but having 2 people working 40 hours (20 each) as opposed to 1 person working 40 hours at $15 an hour is the same difference.
(Leaving out any extra benefits that muse be given to an employee who works over a certain threshold)

Um, regardless of whether it's one person working 20 hours or 20 people working one hour each, it's still the same 15/hr.

Sounds like a lot of horse shite excuses to me. If a high school kid can have your job you should expect life to be hard bc you probably fricked up somewhere.

That's not even remotely true.
Those classes go by the wayside because there aren't enough teachers who are trained in those areas and the federal requirements that have to be met for math, science, and language.
Instead of training students for a job in the workforce we try to make the fit into the college mold. Not everyone is meant for college or needs to go to college.

People living in New Orleans, and choosing to eat at fast food joints deserve everything they get.
Bravo
Trashy people eat fast food. They have shitty attitudes of their own and it's no wonder low wage employees give attitude back to them. Stop at a fast food restaurant on the 1st or 3rd of the month and report back.
