The 1st I got, I paid. That was 7 years ago and didn’t know better. The next two I got, I threw them in the trash. For the next 6 months I received late notices and threats of collections from a law firm in Seattle. I threw those away and have not received anymore correspondence since. It’s probably been another 6 months.

I got a red light one in BR and I'm in the same boat of not knowing whether I need to actually pay.
The most recent thread I found here discussing it seemed to say not to pay, but I also don't want my credit being wrecked or having to deal with collectors.
I have received no less than 5 tickets from that red light camera at Sherwood and Coursey. I threw every one in the trash and never received a letter or notice about them. DO NOT PAY.

It's NOLA. They can suck it. You are crazy if you pay that shite.

bullshite my arse... first citation was 10/14. It was "issued" 0n 11/05. I left NOLA on 11/10 and received the ticket, at home, sometime after that. Second was 10/21, a week late, issued on 11/15. Rental car did assess me a fee but did not state where, when or why. Did not receive the actual citations until returning home. Tell me where the bullshite is?

The question would be "If they use the license plate to determine where to send the ticket in the mail, then why would a ticket issued to a rental car go to your home address?" But based on your answer about the rental car fee assessment, I'm guessing the rental company forwarded them to you?
As to your OP question: I don't pay the frickers and I just avoid parking on a public street when I'm in that rathole town. I have seen the plate scanning van on a number of occasions.
That said, if they keep sending the late notices to the rental car company, the company might hold your feet to the fire to pay it. Not sure how those companies deal with unpaid parking and camera tickets. Sounds like you need one of those Google machines.
