Watch this fricktard start some stupid non-profit dedicated to loaded chamber indicators or magazine disconnect safeties or something. Can't wait to retrofit my expensive Colt Single Action Army to comply.

He'll campaign for gun bans, raise money for the cause and become a prog hero.

Is very easy to appease that group if you're already in that group.

This is my guess as to how it went down more or less.

It was the day before they planned to shoot a monster scene in the script so they were doing dry runs to see what they liked before they actually shot the scene. They thought “not everyone is here but frick it, we’re not even shooting blanks so just grab a gun and let’s do some work.”

The armorer is a 24 year old girl who’s probably spending her down time smoking weed and shooting 2 liters in the New Mexico desert. Her dumbass probably forgets that one of her guns is loaded and sets it down thinking she’ll go through all of the guns later to prep for tomorrow’s big scene. She’s figures “what kind of dumbass would grab a gun and start shooting at people like it’s a toy anyways. Surely they’d check.”

Alec tells the AD “grab one of the revolvers from the armorer’s stash. We’re wanting to get some extra work in for tomorrows big scene.” The dumbass AD thinks “Why would a gun be loaded. Guns are never loaded in movie land.” so he hands the gun to Baldwin like he’s done countless times. Baldwin thinks “Ok Alec, do something cool with the gun because this cinematographer is hot and you look badass dressed up like a cowboy.”

The accidental vs negligent discharge thing is one of those things that makes you gun culture nuts look really bad.
there is no such thing as accidental discharge of a firearm, only purposeful or negligent.

but why would the gun be loaded in the first place?

Nor will prosecutors. They will research and discover the source of negligence or intent. It won't be him

I hate this d-bag as much as anyone, but how many actors do you think check for live rounds in their weapons on set?

Will Smith certainly does.
