You would leverage being able to hold the conference for a lower cost with the opportunity for the attendees to tack on a follow-on trip to NOLA. I've seen a few conventions/conferences in downtown BR. They'll always be smaller, more obscure conferences.

So you would hold the conference in BR for $500/person cheaper than NOLA. Plan it on a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday, leaving it open for attendees to tack on the weekend in NOLA as a mostly pre-paid personal getaway.
