I'm surprised that the lawsuit didn't include the parents for weak genetic ankles. Or the sock manufacturer for not providing ebough ankle support to avoid injury.

Maybe if the kid wasn't a pussy and knew how to slide properly and he wouldn't have broken his ankle, and the heart of his coach.

No wonder Paul Maineri chooses to wave his players home time and again for the sure out instead of having them slide into third.

They were already up 6-0 with runners on 2nd and 3rd, his hit scored 2 more runs so now they’re up 8-0.

quote:

After Maser rounded second, he decided to leg out a triple. Suk, who was coaching third, knew there was going to be a "bang-bang" play at third, because the outfield was throwing the ball to the base, so he instructed Maser to slide. That's when the injury occurred.

Why force the Triple when you already scored the 2 runs? That’s selfish and reckless.

Exactly - what's the point of stretching it to a triple? On 2nd you are in scoring position, and you're up 8-0.

All sorts of stupid here.

Because if there is less than two outs a fly ball scores a run? I know teams never come back from that far down though so you do have a point.

Then that's on the player, he should have gone head first.

Then they'd be suing the coach for $10K or more of orthodontic work for damages sustained sliding head first into the play.

This is a very frivolous law suit. When I first started reading the article I thought it was going to be a case where defensive player was injured by an runner sliding to break up a play, e.g. runner slides into second baseman to break up potential double play.

has their other ankle broken just because.

Why? It's probably his parents doing this.

There will just be waivers galore now.

Yeah, that'll stop this nonsense just like consent forms in medicine have stopped many lawsuits......oh wait.......never mind....I guess that didn't work, huh?

Here is all that the judge needs to dismiss this...

quote:

Sliding Fundamentals

Have the players sit on the ground with one leg straight out and the other leg bent and placed underneath the straight leg creating a figure four shape.

The straight leg should be bent slightly at the knee and the heel should be raised off the ground to prevent catching the ground with the cleats.
