It's shorter than the Baton Rouge bridge by 40 feet.
It's also longer than the Baton Rouge bridge by 2,000 feet.
—-and it will be completed 30 years before the planned BR bridge

A new bridge was definitely needed but it will be strange not seeing the old bridge. It has been part of my life for 70 years.

Upon my understanding the I-210 bypass is two to three miles longer from the interchanges than crossing over the new toll bridge. What percentage of motorists will avoid the toll would you guess. Is it likely to be local contractors mostly inclined to use the 210?

im sure plenty of local residents will. but in the end, this is the only way this was going to get funded.

its dumb, dont have to like it but its the only way it would get completed.

I was told that there is a very limited toll roads on US Interstate highways, perhaps two or three.

I was also told that the project could be less expensive if it were simply a bridge over a river as opposed to its extended I-10 east and west improvements, aesthetic lighting etc. Just asking.

of course, but what are we trying to do? are we trying to just do the minimum and not really improve the area and improve the life style of those in the area?

we could go back with the same type bridge, save money and still have the same issues.

either way, it wasnt getting funded without PPP.
