We were just in Middleburg last weekend. It is an incredible place to visit. Impossible to live unless you are uber rich so we just visit. It’s about a half an hour from us.

The Salamander resort is awesome.

I’ve never been but need to go. My mom knows the owner. No perks though for that

I’m shocked my wife hasn’t demanded we go yet but I think she may not know of it’s existence.

There are, or at least were, worse places than NOLA
NOLA still holds the all-time highest murder rate with 94 per 100k in 1994. There has never been an American city as violent as New Orleans in 1994.

Do tell, curious as to the name of this utopia you speak of.

Seriously, why not identify your new hometown? Inquiring minds want to know.

So we’re comparing small town nowhere-ville crime to New Orleans and Baton Rouge and using it as a ding against Louisiana?

Except that type of crime happens all over Louisiana, even in small towns... and it doesn't happen in small towns in other states or small towns with fewer of a certain demographic.

There are small towns all over Louisiana that don't have much crime. You need to get out more.

There are small towns all over Louisiana that do have that much crime though.

I think it still stands. What small towns in Louisiana other than madisonville/Mandeville aren’t totally wasted out shells of what they once were (which guess what = crime)?

You asked for small towns with low crime and you got a sampling of them as requested. Most of which are indeed considered nice, have good schools, growing populations, and affordable COL by most standards. Just the facts, but I know how a lot of folks feel about those.

Unless you mean the arse to tits subdivisions in Broussard/youngsville?

Now the subdivisions are too close together? Lol. Glad you found your place, though. Hope it stays that way for ya. The DC sprawl has swallowed a lot of nice places. Those townhome subdivisions in NOVA…those folks know about real arse to tits living.

They all seem to happen in the same two areas as well (Northeast or Southeast Austin)
so you're saying... East Austin?

Central East Austin has been gentrified to hell and is mostly yuppies, hipsters and even some techbros. Violent crime is pretty rare there.

So I am here to eat some major shite. So major I’m actually laughing at it because irony always gets me.

We actually had two unrelated random shooting events yesterday which is honest to god the first time I’ve really read about anything like that on the news here.

One was at a Sheetz we do actually go to regularly and the other was some domestic event in a house maybe a few blocks over from our old apartment.

So lay it on me I’m not above eating my crow and the timing as I said is actually hilarious.

However, good news is they’re likely to have the book thrown at them knowing our local officials so the odds of these being revolving door criminals are low.
