4-cylinder turbos have come a long way, but if you plan to keep it for a while, assume that the turbocharger will get less and less efficient and eventually wear out.

I just want to say frick the plug on the #8 cylinder. Right in the arse.

well that's not good, I'm starting to get grays in my beard here and there and I need to stand up and move around so my damn bones and joints aren't popping

Would you buy that if you really only pulled say a lawnmower on a trailer?
Absolutely. Turbo 4 cylinder is a GREAT idea for a half ton truck and it's a damn shame that they arent common.

Sure you can have a turbo failure like anything else mechanical. In their most complex form they have almost no moving parts.

Are they gonna pipe in V8 sounds through the speakers like Ford did?

I have the 5.3 V8 GMC. Averaging 21 mpg right now.

New GMC truck with a 4 cylinder turbo?
Seems pretty crazy that they are offering 5 engine options.

4 cylinder and truck belong in the same sentence.
Maybe if it were diesel.

I’ve watched a few reviews on these on you tube, they have good things to say. Still don’t know if I trust it. Give it a few years to work out any/ all the kinks!

I seriously thought about dropping in a 4 cyl diesel in my old wrangler. Blew a head gasket. The mechanic told me either the t-stat went bad and blew the gasket, or the gasket blew and caused the t-stat to blow out. They gave me a few options, machine the head and replace the gasket and radiator, crate motor, diesel, etc. I just fixed the 4.0 and kept rolling but it was tempting. 4 cyl gas, no way.

I've been looking and they have a lot of 2.7Liter turbo engines that are 4 cylinders. Would you buy that if you really only pulled say a lawnmower on a trailer?
Diesel? Absolutely. Gas? Meh.....

Don’t. My dad just got one and he says his 2016 with the 5.3 and AFM got better gas mileage
21 mpg for me with the 5.3

If I buy a 4 cylinder truck it’s going to be an old school 4wd Toyota

I know they get a lot of power out of these engines, but I just hate the sound.
I love the sound of a cold start on a 6.2 liter. That roar of it coming to life, shaking the whole truck makes my dick hard

Heard a 4cyl turbo go by the other day.
It was just weird hearing that sound from a full size truck.
I kinda want to take one of the 1/2 ton Duramax's for a spin.

Turbocharged engines usually have waste/exhaust gates, intercoolers, vacuum pumps, complex PCV systems, etc.
