I just got back from my trip to Asia and these trucks are everywhere... they look pretty good.
I would guess that one of every 3 trucks I saw was the Ranger.

No, the Chevy comes with multiple engine sizes. I have the ZR2. Can pull 6K pounds no problem Mine is rated for 7K. Same with the Diesel but the Diesel can tow 7.7K.
That 4 banger will be lucky to pull 3.5...

They have a ton here at Erbil Air Base and they seem ok. I am a Ford guy, my F150 is 10 years old but I have been looking at buying a ZR2 Colorado when I get home. I just don't need the big truck anymore and I don't think the new Ranger will stack up to the Colorado.

Why are people so hard on for Fords? They are by far the least reliable trucks on the market.

A lot of people have good experiences with them. Mine has been great for the last 8 years
