Oh, did I mention...my son is NINETEEN NOT ELEVEN. Yeah, I probably overreacted in MY case, but I would be mightily pissed with you if I were the other kid's parents in yours.I would consider legal action given medical bills, pain and suffering, and possibly permanent nerve damage.

A cottonmouth is a very, very aggressive snake.
Obviously your training was not great, i would be surprised if you were not sued.
Seen it happened to people who were friends, when an accident happened and they were out of money due to another persons neglect.

My own son killed a cottonmouth on our property this past weekend. He was acres away from my husband (who was carrying a Judge for just this type of situation). Rather than go retrieve his dad or run for his own gun, he dispatched the snake with a nearby shovel. I was NOT pleased to hear this, and fussed a good bit about it, as a mom/girl/wimp. Did not want my baby having anything to do with a venomous snake.

My dad would let me shoot snakes with my .410 when I was eleven. Of course he was supervising unlike the OP

Why is what I am saying any different than everyone else calling you a negligent idiot?

Just saying I would consider pursuit of legal action.

Oh, and also I have worked in insurance fwiw, and the stuff you have said in this thread alone would be enough for your homeowners to try to get out of paying a claim AND possibly enough for the other family's medical to come after you to repay the medical expenses if you are found at fault (any idea how expensive anti-venom is?). And if the kids nerve damage is expected to be permanent for the remaining 60 or so years of his life? AND if he had a lot of pain? $$$$$$ I hope for your sake you ARE trolling with this. Otherwise...that's gonna sting.

Kiss that. With all due respect.

A hatchet, you talking hatchet. We talking hatchet here. Hatchet. Its just a hatchet. It aint even a real axe, its a hatchet.

Taught my son to pick the snakes up by the tail and whip those suckers heads off. Who needs a hatchet.

This has been pretty enlightening to how many actually read more than the first post.

This guy will troll many in the future.

You can be a skeptic or you can check your disbelief at the door when you log on. I prefer the latter. On the OT, things are exactly as they appear.

Perhaps you should not have posted that you sent children out to a known dangerous hazard and asked his friend and him to take care of it while you sat in your home. If I were a lawyer, or even a parent, I think that is the last thing I would have recommended.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just hand him the deed to your property and home. Plus your keys, your banker’s name, and name him as the beneficiary on your life insurance.

The chances of seeing a snake first and then getting bitten seems awfully low. That’s some pretty bad luck
