So if a snake bites a human as a defensive measure, it becomes poisonous?

No, Poison is a toxin that gets into the body by inhaling, swallowing, or absorption through the skin. Venom has to be injected to be harmful.

No snake (except for 1 species in Asia) is poisonous.

I was fricking with you, in case it wasn't clear. A shot at all the people who can never let "poisonous vs venomous" slide.

The round pupils are the key. That is a cobra.

You can also tell by the tail. If you give snake’s tail a shake and hear a rattle, it’s probably venomous.

It's actually toxic, as is poison. But let's not get hung up on semantics.

Round pupils. Not a viper.

But a GDCK is an elapid. They have round eyes.

Either harmless water snake or the OP is dead already. Pics of his wife to see if she needs comforting?

Lordy, that is a Gaboon Viper! Florida Man let him loose during that hurricane years ago.

Now he has made his way west. Terrifying all in his path.

Then again, maybe just a harmless water snake that keeps your property free of pests.

I just dont know.

I'm a anti-semantics, which is very frowned upon in today's climate.
