Why did the Germans specifically center their attack on the 45th Infantry at Anzio?

Because they were a National Guard Unit and the Germans thought they would be easier to defeat than regular US Army.

The bikini swimsuit was named after Bikini Atoll, a site of atomic bomb testing.

Freddie John Falgout

I learned about this guy while I was in high school. My history teacher got me into WW2 history. He was considered the first American casualty of WW2. He died in 1937, but I know the war didn't begin until 39. He was born and raised in South Louisiana and there is a small monument to him right under the overpass on Hwy 90 in Raceland.

Ask him who the highest scoring aces were (on both sides) in each theater. And what they flew.

Ask him what country the FEB came from and where did they fight (Brazilian Expeditionary Force and Italy)

If he knows that, ask him about the meaning of the divisional patch (snake smoking a pipe -- some sort if idiom about a snake will smoke a pipe when the FEB fights)

Also, I don't have the cite, but Steven Ambrose wrote about Koreans being captured in German uniforms on D Day. They had been impressed into Japanese service and captured by Russia in its 1939 border skirmish with Japan. Russia impressed them into its army, whereupon they were captured by Germany, impressed again, and ended up in Normandy.

There is movie about this called My Way. It's a crazy story.
