The area is fine safety wise and I think the actual units a pretty nice. I just graduated in May and the only real negative I would tell your friend is it may be hard to rent out. It's kind of hard to see from the road and not a popular spot like Uview or the like, but since his kids will be in the apartment for the next ten years or so I see no reason for him not to buy it.
