3 years with a Grand Cherokee L. It was great at first but since going over 50k miles we’ve had nothing but problems.

I have a 2020 palisade limited. Love it and haven’t had any issues with it. Premium looking interior in top level trim. Ignore the people here mocking you for wanting a three row with one kid on way. If you plan on having another in two or three more years then you will want a three row. Two or three kids in middle row and you’ll need the room in the back with third row folded down any time you go to spend night anywhere … or go to Costco. My daughter just got a Kia carnival and loves it so you may want to check that out.

First child? Third row suv?

How large do you think this child is going to be?

Get her a Camry.

The third row seat is too small for an adult on any of those, but getting one with captain's chairs in the second row will make it slightly more manageable

The 2025 Pilot has a removable seat to make the second row captains chairs. Thats nice too.

I wouldn’t do the explorer. You’ll start running into issues around 75k miles.

For real. In the 80s my parents with a family of 5 made it with a Honda Accord.

I have 2 kids and a 4-runner with a third row. The amount of times I’ve used that third row is exactly zero.

Highly recommend the 4Runner baw

Why no Toyota?

Not really a fan of the 4 Runners or Highlander's, plus I'd prefer to have a V6 if I do get a 3rd row suv. All the 4 cylinder vehicles we drove this weekend felt clunky.

My advice is to stick to a two row as long as possible. When you outgrow that, look at a minivan. They are cheaper, usually larger on the inside, very easy to live with (huge sliding doors, easier for toddlers to climb into, etc), and much more fuel efficient. The Toyota Sienna is a very reliable vehicle in this segment BTW.

Unless you need to tow something....then a minivan won't work. But the Palisade, Explorer, Pilot, Telluride, etc. aren't really great in that area either. The Yukon, Expedition, and Tahoe are excellent in that respect, but they are also much more expensive.

If a minivan won't work, the new Grand Highlander with the hybrid powertrain is very good. They might be Toyota's quickest selling product right now.

Unpopular opinion. But third rows are damn near useless unless you get the big SUVs.

When you have kids big enough to need em they are tiny. Much more functional to have a bench in the back to comfortably seat 5

Toyota sienna, thank me later. Third row in an suv is useless. Don’t be a wuss, get the minivan. They are awesome. Your wife will have a PhD in carpool with the sliding doors

We are looking at some of these, will probably just leave the 3rd rom folded down for the space.

I was looking at the nissan armada, dodge durango, ford expedition. We may need to tow a trailer every now and then. Seems like you can find an expedition for a reasonable price every now and then.

My current vehicle is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra lol. 11 years old, and it still runs well. Its got 150k miles on it, and could probably get another 25-30k. I just need to get something bigger.
