Seemed like 90% of the kids I went to school with (90s and early 00s) had one of those names

Checks out... Honestly though I think this is where the crazy names came from. People got tired of being the 3rd Sarah and 2nd John in their class, so they went overly nuts.

I definitely remember this. We had 3 kids in my class with my same name and we all had to use our last initial, for example:
- Boring R
- Boring S
- Boring G
My sophomore year English class of 30 kids had 6 Ashleys, two had the same last name
