Potential tourists can’t say Nebraska didn’t warn them.

Nebraska’s tourism commission announced Wednesday that the tagline for its new tourism campaign is “Nebraska: Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”

It’s a concession — said with quirky, self-effacing charm — that Nebraska promoters hope will highlight what the state does provide to potential vacationers: Outdoor recreation, natural beauty, an escape from the city and a connection to the West.

“We discovered that we can’t offer something to everyone — but to those that we can, this campaign speaks to their sense of adventure and discovering what we as Nebraskans are all about,” Deb Loseke, chair of the Nebraska Tourism Commission, said in a statement.

Nebraska’s old tagline, which the state stopped using in 2015, was “Nebraska Nice,” tourism staff said.

I love these threads because you get posters from the deep south talking about how the shithole states they are in are so much better to live in than productive Great Plains states like Nebraska where the HS graduation rate is actually above like 85%

Well, in their defense, they don’t have a lot to work with. I mean really, have you ever in your life heard anyone say “hey, I have a great idea. Let’s go to Nebraska for vacation this year”?

I have nothing against Nabraska. I’m just saying it’s not exactly a vacation destination.

No shite it isn't. The solar eclipse was the biggest one ever fir here. I mean Alliance has carhenge and the hunting out here in western Nebraska is pretty damn good too.

I don't think anyone on this site has anything against Nebraskans. The folks I've met from there have been great. The main issue Southerners have with that part of the country revolves around one thing: the weather.

Iv'e actually been trying to get a turkey hunt out there. Great public land success rates and relatively cheap and very easy to get non resident tags.

The most impressive thing in Nebraska is the railroad yard in North Platte. (It's the world's largest)

Not many people gonna travel to see that even if it is more impressive than the biggest ball of yarn.

Nebraska: You want corn, we got corn.

Nebraska: If you're scared of heights, visit a state with a max elevation of 5 feet.

Uh Nebraska has a higher elevation than that. Heck LA is a much much flatter state than NE is. Really the only flat part of the state is around the lower Platte valley where I80 goes through. You have the bluffs along the MO and the Sandhills out west and buttes on the panhandle.

Ok, fine, I retract the elevation slogan:

Nebraska: Visit us or we'll send Lawrence Phillips to your house.
