NC teen faces sexting charges.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said both 17-year-old Cormega Copening and his girlfriend face "sexting" charges.
The charges stem from an incident last October and the couple was charged in February, but Jack Britt High School officials said they were unaware of the charges until a couple of weeks ago.
Investigators said the sexting happened while Copening was a student at Douglas Byrd High School last year. Officers took his phone while investigating another incident.

Swain explained that in North Carolina it is illegal for anyone under 18 to send or receive sexually explicit photos with a cell phone.
"Simple possession having it on your cell phone is a charge itself, and if you should send it out to another person that is another charge," he said.

Absolutely absurd. There needs to be some restructuring of our criminal justice system to prioritize what matters and not this bullshite. Waste of taxpayer funds and gives this kid a record.

That district attorney should kill himself for being such a useless a-hole. He has absolute discrimination on which cases to prosecute and he chose to go after these kids. frick him and I hope he loses both his legs and arms in a lawn mower accident.

poor kid is just alive at the wrong time. shoulda been around for yahoo chat rooms, where you could pretend to be a chick and get a ton of people wanting to talk dirty with you. only catch was you had to do the chick dialogue and really sell it, ya know, really make it believable.
