And since it was, by and large, the lack of natural immunities to diseases common in the west that killed off the native populations...how did he plan on utilizing that?

It was disease by dumb luck, not design, which helped seal the Natives fate. That and superior technology.

Seriously, Guns, Germs and Steel.

You mean one like

Or one of the other myriad history books adorn my shelves?

We all stand on the shoulders of killers and thieves, rapists and blackguards, if you look back far enough.

Because those are the ones that survived and bred and colonized new places.

The parts about his experiences in WW1 are interesting. The rest I grew disinterested in. Although the first rule of war is "know thy enemy".

My Favorite book is actually Dune by Frank Herbert. Fascinating socio-political drama ensconced in a brilliant sci-fi universe.

So were all the death marches during WW2 simply imitations of an occurance an ocean away 100 years before? Or could it be that marching people you've deemed an enemy a long way with scarce rations is simply a good way to have them die?

You do realize that such things are in no way unique, right?

Hundreds of such events across history well before and after the forced relocation of native Americans.

I will admit, it's hard to argue the parallels between both ideologies of extermination. Hitler saying he admired our "system of extermination" is pretty telling in itself. Maybe he did get ideas from American methodologies, but it really changes nothing.

My point (and I believe fr33manator's point) is that current generations should not feel guilty for actions that our ancestors committed. I am simply remarking on the hypocrisy that Americans are unique in that we conquered, subjugated, and wiped out a swath of cultures and sub-cultures. Even the natives involved themselves in their "own" genocide by wiping out other tribes. Do you dispute this?

Also, do you dispute that all land on Earth is occupied by a conqueror that either massively displaced or annihilated pre-existing cultures?

Come on, let's not be hard on him. I do know this way of thinking; unfortunately, this rhetoric is what is being taught in college campuses today. Disgusting. I understand the need to learn from past mistakes, but the mainstream indoctrination of white guilt and shaming of American culture is one of the most deteriorating things going on within our borders today.

Andy Jackson was just cleaning house at that point. And look at the fight the Seminoles gave him.

Should go to show you that the ONLY chance against invaders is to fight them and to fight them hard. Brutally. Mercilessly. Take no prisoners
