Groceries are going down dramatically too

We’re not going to see deflation in grocery prices unless there’s a major recession. The best you can hope for is a reduction in the rate of inflation.

Production went up steadily during his first term.

Price is like $3.30 here in Illinois which is BS considering how low oil prices are right now. Should be closer to $2.25.

When oil prices went negative? When people were told to stay home and don’t travel anywhere, not even the grocery store?

Covid certainly didn't help, but the Russia/OPEC deal expired as covid was kicking off.

Saudis tanked the market leading up to covid. It was allegedly part of their "what does the kingdom look like after peak oil yada yada" I don't think Trump could have stopped them even if covid doesn't happen because they were swinging their pee pee.

What they learned with their actions and with covid amplifying their moves is why the Saudis started diversifying like crazy. Also a solid chance we see themndo something similar soon.

True, but I also don't think oil tanks as bad as it did either.

While I don't think Trump deserves a bunch of credit for gasoline prices being $1.50/gallon like it got to during that period (nor do I think it being that low signified good things for America), I also don't think he deserves a bunch of blame for the crash and bankruptcies either.

There is some truth to that, but you also have to recall that he was very proud of that oil bust and took credit for it. He even bragged that he made the US energy independent.

I get a lot of people are happy with $1.50 per gallon gas. It’s just not good for a nation who wants to be a net exporter.

U.S. bankruptcies certainly did. I’d have to look up U.S. production but I didn’t really pay attention to that because every company I invested was getting crushed.

Feb 2017: 9.11 Million bbls/day
Nov 2019 (peak): 12.99 Million bbls/day
March 2020: 12.79 Million bbls/day

Then Covid Crash took its affect.

May 2020: 9.71 Million bbls/day

Then recovery started to take place as government restrictions/lockdowns started easing some.

Nov 2020: 11.21 Million bbls/day
Dec 2020: 11.18
Jan 2020: 11.15

2019 was a record production year for the U.S., not broken until 2023 year.
