And there's an element within the GOP so opposed to social programs that they are fine racking up debt in order to use forced austerity measure to eliminate them, like what happened in Greece a few years ago.

Well less spending isnt ever a bad thing when youre 36t in debt.
I dont think anyone on this planet can claim we dont spend enough public money.

Yup, Trump loved that Covid stimulus spending! He advocated for it, signed the bills, and put his name on all those checks. Everyone I know called them Trump bucks.
Then all that stimulus spending led to the 2021-2022 inflation and people voted for Trump thinking he will reduce spending and bring down prices
