Why? Because you hate authority and you know the cop did the right thing

I see many videos of cops chasing armed suspects yet they don't end up shooting them. If this shooting was justifiable in your opinion, why do all of the other cops refrain from shooting a fleeing armed suspect?

Also, if it was justifiable, why was the cop arrested?

Each situation is different. Time of day, how many people walking, driving around, adults vs kids. Please find the videos where they knowingly chased armed suspects and knew they were armed.

You’re kidding right? The left/activist scream and tear cities down, every time a cop isn’t charged(Ferguson, Baton Rouge, Minneapolis). With any crime now days, it’s no longer innocent til proven guilty, it’s guilty to proven innocent. That goes for both sides of the isle. BLM wanted a monster and they started it.

Do you see this particular case as justifiable based on what you see?

It was at his discretion. If you want to take away discretion from cops that deem a suspect a threat, good luck finding any qualified cop to take the job to protect the public. Everyone is different, every situation is different. The political climate and the nature of Nashville now demanded that he was arrested and charged. It's the perfect storm. Anything to de-legitimize our country and rule of law seems to be en-vogue now.

The fact is we're blaming the cop and not the individual running from someone with a given position of authority, all while running with a gun in their hand. Why did he hold on to it? Would you think he intended to use it considering he knew who was there and given the choice he decided to hang on to it? That's where we're at now in society. Outrage towards the person charged with protecting the public at large, and pity for the criminal that can't follow simple instructions. It's a sad day.

Well a subject fleeing, that is armed and dangerous yes. Like posted before, what stops the subject from turning on the officer, shooting into random homes, shooting at motorist or civilians. If that happened, who’s at fault? Regardless of the outcome that sucks, with BLM/left activist, an officer found innocent and the shooting is clean, the officer will no longer be employed.

I see an individual keeping a deadly weapon he was asked to drop in his possession while fleeing. He knew exactly why he wanted to keep that weapon despite the demands and fled. That's what is seen. Not some innocent person getting gunned down by a cop.

It’s common sense. You have a firearm, knife or any type of weapon. You see/hear police, sheriff, state trooper. You drop the weapon or let them know where it is and make sure your hands are visible. Pretty simple.

It's very simple. It should be common sense, yet here we are, debating the merits of someone running through the city with a gun that they were asked to drop as if they're a poor, disenfranchised soul.

Yes, subject is obviously armed. The risks of letting him go, outweigh the rewards.

I honestly don’t get it. I guess each person is taught different.

Teach your damn kids to listen to police. If you have an issue fight it in court. Most normal people do.

It's common sense to you and I. I would never find myself I'm this particular situation for many reasons and I always give the highest respect to any LEO I interact with, it's the way I was raised.

However, being stupid isn't a crime and it certainly doesn't justify being shot in the back while being a good 100 ft ahead of the cop who is giving chase.

This will end up just like the Walter Scott deal. Conviction of a murderer who happened to wear a badge. There was no threat to the officer or any member of society. You can't kill someone just because they are running away from you.

Answer this, subject fleas and kills an innocent person. What happens to the cop?

How is there no threat? A man with a gun is a pretty big threat. Have you ever shot a hand gun? 30 yards is not very far.

Not relevant to this situation. There were no persons, innocent or otherwise, in the vicinity.

The man with the gun was running away with his back to the cop. It's very hard to say the cop was in any sort of danger at the time he shot the suspect.

I have shot many weapons, from a 22 on up to a 50 Cal, M60, M240. I shot the military issue 1911 and converted to the Beretta 9mm when it was introduced. 38, 357, 380, 44 mag. Been there and done that. 100 feet is a long way when it comes to a pistol

A vehicle passed a few seconds before hand. Residence in a home or around the corner down the street. A lot of unknown factors. Which is revelant to the question. Not very hard to answer, honestly.

Proactive is quicker than reactive. Police don’t always have to be in danger to shoot, citizens can be protected. I understand your view point. Some firearms are easier to shoot than others, but a random citizen could practice on the range a few times and learn trigger control, could be deadly from 30 a high percentage.
