Not relevant to this situation. There were no persons, innocent or otherwise, in the vicinity.
It’s very relevant, it was a highly populated area.

The man with the gun was running away with his back to the cop. It's very hard to say the cop was in any sort of danger at the time he shot the suspect.
And he held on to the gun after being told multiple times to drop it. At any moment, he could turn and fire, hitting the cop or someone in the vicinity. To say he wasn’t a threat is crazy talk. If you want to argue the merits of giving chase, sure, that’s a logical position to discuss. But to continually state a man running from cops through a city street with a gun in his hand after being told to drop it multiple times isn’t a threat is downright fricking asinine.

Not very hard to answer, honestly.
Yeah, it really is and given the fact that the cop was arrested supports what I am saying. There was no imminent threat to a member of the public. Sure, there are many hypotheticals that can be pulled into the scenario, but you can't justify murder based on a hypothetical. Nobody was anywhere near the victim when he was murdered.
It's a bad shoot. He will be convicted

Welp, no reason for a trial then. All criminals should be allowed to flee with pistol in hand through busy cities.

Again, if he was justified in shooting this innocent man......why was he arrested?

There have been numerous officers arrested and the charges later dropped. But I honestly wanna know. If a cop lets a guy go and he kills someone. Should it be the cops fault? Don’t use this situation.

Are you resorting to insults because you have run out of logic?
What is your opinion of the Walter Scott shooting?

With all due respect, I’ve interjected plenty of logic. You are obtuse and have already blocked your mind. You just want to argue at this point, it’s really a fruitless conversation.

No. It isn't the cops fault. It's the murderers fault.

Pretty dumb to call you that. You’re debating your belief. But can you answer my question, since I’ve answered yours. That question could help prevent these type of shootings
Posted on 9/28/18 at 11:31 pm to Beessnax
Thank you. But do you believe the public, will view it that way?

You have interjected plenty of "what ifs" that aren't applicable to this specific scenario. That's not logic. This was murder and you know it.
What would you have done in this scenario? Would you have shot?

It doesn't matter there were no innocent victims in the vicinity. All that matters is he was running from the police with a firearm. Police have the right to act with force when public safety is at risk. Again, who knows what he would have done had he come across a bystander. The job of a police officer is to protect and serve, which is what he was doing.
He wasn't arrested because he is guilty. He was arrested because of the current political climate and obtuse idiots, like you, who will start protesting because they have no common sense.

Well.....there is the public and then there is the media, the preachers and the community activist.
I think the rank and file public would see it as it truly is. You can't hold one person accountable for the other's behavior. The others, they would do everything possible to put it on the police, just to grandstand

Yeah, it really does. It's hard to argue that he was an imminent threat to life when there were no people around.

I'm sorry that someone hurt you enough that you have to resort to insulting strangers in order to feel better about it.
And lol at the common sense! My wife of 25 years tells me the same (minus the idiot part) all the time.
But, no, I don't protest anything. It's a waste of time.
So. ...was the Walter Scott shooting justifiable? No one seems to want to answer that question

The police union says the law allows you to shoot someone in the back if they are armed.
If true then he is off on a technicality AND the law needs to be changed

Law enforcement officers pursuing an unarmed suspect may use deadly force to prevent escape only if the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.

My answer is no and so was the publics. That case was not even remotely close to this.
A physical struggles occurred and the unarmed man reached for the officers taser. Safe bet is to tase his arse or physically assault the suspect. Again unarmed, the officer couldn’t perceive any threat that great bodily injury or death would occur.
The Nashville case, easy to see great bodily injury or death would occur to society itself or the officer. I can see your side and others, because he was shot in the back. But again it’s an if game all the time. SWAT, traffic stops, domestics, any calls. Any police shootings are if games, you are takin a chance that the suspect will kill you or some body else.
Maybe the suspect was just fleeing, or had warrants, or was felon in possession. Maybe he was gonna round the corner and done the officer, or an innocent kid on the bike. We will never know. Sorry this man lost his life and the officers life will never be the same.
