Just remembered a great date on the top floor of the Willis (Sears) Tower in Chicago. That was pretty awesome to see the entire city of Chicago at night lit up. Cocktails were great as well. Pretty expensive, though I think the cheapest cocktail was 12 dollars.

Kenny's Key West

My first date with this gal from freshman year at LSU. Met her at Sports one night. So we make a plan to go out. She was a bartender at French Quarter Daqs on Essen. I went hang out till she got off about 11pm or so and we went straight to Kennys. She didn't tell me she had a tab and took it. She hung out in bathroom most of the night and gnawing her lip when not.

Galatoire's - Nola
Dakota's - Covington
Pamplona - Lafayette
Little Village - BR
Bouligny Tavern - Nola
Emril's - Nola
Sullivan's - BR
Village Café (De Gaulle Square Bistro) - Lafayette
Social - Lafayette

If we're talking about food/atmosphere, then pick 5 from this list, I can't decide.

Not in any order
Restaurants:
La Petit Grocery, NOLA
Keen's Steakhouse, NYC (better than Lugar's IMO)
Galatoire's, NOLA
Heck's, Devils Thumb Ranch, Colorado
Reata's Steakhouse, Fort Worth

Bars:
Cure, NOLA
Snake and Jakes, NOLA (After Cure)
The Library, NoMad Hotel, NYC
Dead Rabbit, NYC

When I was in BR I loved going to Tsunami to watch the sun set from the roof, drink in hand. Don't know if it's still there.

That was one of the things I loved about it also. The food is amazing too.

Jesus. I really hope y'all aren't taking women out to most of these nice restaurants on on *first* dates. Desperate much?

#1 spot: A drink at Frankie's Tiki Room in Vegas. Interesting joint, cozy setting, strong drinks. If you need more than that, you're trying too hard. Alternates in Vegas: Peppermill, in the lounge. Carson Kitchen, at the bar or on the rooftop. Gold Spike, outside. Hugo's Cellar or Golden Steer as long as it's not a first date.

Also good...In BR: Chelsea's, at the bar. Radio Bar, outside. Laffy: Artmosphere, outside. Perhaps Pamplona *if* she's classy and won't be impressed or think you're trying to impress her. Transition from either to Blue Moon if getting along. Key West: Cowboy Bill's. Shreveport: nowhere, because it's Shreveport. But...hookah and BYOB wine at Athena on Line served me well. Cat's Meow, outside. Dallas: Meddlesome Moth, outside...with the same caveat as Pamplona. Any divey joint in Deep Ellum. Austin: swing a dead cat.

Basically...anywhere that's interesting, unpretentious, cozy, has good booze, and is within easy walking distance of other fun stuff. Lead her on an adventure. If you can't make things happen on your own, a $200 meal is just going to highlight the fact that you're a chump.
