Right but Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama etc don't have completely dissimilar demographics or income levels. There's a certain level of Louisiana ineptitude in there too.

If you’re a liberal, stay in Asheville.

Fine by me . As long as I can be outdoors
Posted on 8/24/20 at 10:20 pm to Boo Krewe
There’s definitely a lot of that.

Yeah, but you can pick any of the surrounding towns and they are all very much populated by native Carolinians.
It's the strong job market, RTP, and large universities that brought the transplants there. Not all are from the NE, many are from other southern states and California.

I want charmy funky towns , but also white people towns that you can raise a family in. The kind of towns you see on hallmark movies

Black Mountain, Boone, and Pittsboro are your best bets.

Thanks for asking. I'm doing better but I was scared last week when I had shortness of breath and aches when ever I sneezed. Took a walk today

white people towns
There are a lot of towns here like you describe. It can be difficult to find employment, depending on your background and skill set, so you should prepare for that.

I’m from there, and you’re right... it’s an incredible state. It’s a very different state than when I grew up in the 80’s. A lot of outsiders have moved in, which I have no problem with... as long as they don’t try to make it more like “home.”
Charlotte has exploded. The Triangle. RDU. All booming. Great people, great scenery, great weather, great infrastructure... lots of economic growth and opportunity. Booming cities, small towns. It’s a good “mix” of everything.
NAFTA and government regulation of tobacco ruined a lot of people’s jobs and cost them their entire way of life. I’d like to return home someday, but don’t want it to be a foreign country.
Please, all of you, when you move somewhere... move there because you like it, and not because you’ve been run out of some place else and see it as an opportunity to create your new life and reality.

I live not far from Tabor City, Chadbourn and Fair Bluff. Those areas have been left behind since tobacco farming went the way of the dodo. That whole corridor from Richmond County down to Columbus County may as well be South Carolina.

One of my first farming gigs, many years ago, was run by some old hippie living on his ancestral farm right on the edge of Tabor City on 64. How the hell anyone decided it needed "city" in its name is beyond me.
