Extra research would have paid off here. The Stone Mountain Memorial Association, which operates the park, is self-supporting.

State purchased the park years ago, yes. State owns the park, but it funds itself and is OPERATED by a private company.

No tax money goes towards the support/maintenance of the park.

As I said in my previous post:

Best part is that it is not supported by taxes. Park is privately operated and self sufficient.

Operated by this group: LINK /

Seemingly well known by some not closest to him as well.

When the NAACP steps up and tells the black community to quit killing each other over shoes, dime bags, and ebt cards, I'll pay a little more attention to them.

Until then, they can keep stirring the racism pot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Stone Mountain protected by State Law? The local officials can't touch anything in that park without the state legislature.

It is similar to the Memphis people wanting to dig up Forrest. That is also against state law IIRC.

If you read the post at the top of this page, you will see that tax dollars technically do not go towards this park.

Why do Jeff Davis, Robt. E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson offend the coloreds? What could they possibly have against those gentlemen? Talk about thin skin–or thin black skin in this case.

For those who haven't visited, or haven't seen the laser show projected on the mountain after dark, it DID an amazing job in depicting the tragedy and horrors of the war between the states.

It animates Lee, Jackson & Davis and ultimately shows Robert E Lee surveying the loss of life and making the decision to snap his sword and surrender at appomattox.

It then shows the the states reunifying from gray and blue to red white & blue. If this doesn't make your spine tingle to Elvis' American Trilogy then you're not American, and definitely not Southern!

Click to see, starting at 46s: LINK

I myself haven't been to the laser show in several years, and now am reading that they have almost completely taken out this bit in favor of a shorter, to-the-point and hurry off the stage version. This was always only the end of the show. It (in my lifetime) always went above and beyond celebrating famous blacks from Georgia & the south and their contributions to history. It was a great balance of making all southerners prideful.

It's just sad the way things are going.

Except that they do this already. The Internet is a great place start to find speeches, forms, conventions, meetings, etcetera. Maybe you can attend. Or keep perpetuating the myth.

Has there ever been a group on this planet more ignorant, relative to their time, than American inner-city blacks?

How much you think that 90x190 slab goes for in his proposed project of delicately removing it and selling it?
