The last time I bought a car I emailed the model, year, and trim package I wanted to several dealerships with the price I would pay. Three responded and said they would have the sales papers ready if I called and gave them information.

I spent less than an hour from the time I started researching to the time the deal was done.

Last time I tried to work with a salesman it took hours of my day as he kept having to go in the back, and he said he couldn't even give me a price until I told him if I was trading in my current car or not. I ended up walking out.

No doubt you have people like this. However, more and more people are like those on here that will go online and get educated about the car and come in with the price they are willing to pay, or in my case call ahead of time and work it out on the phone.

The way you seem to want to do business would keep you from wanting to work withe informed consumer the ones you cannot control, the ones just want to buy a car and not get hammered.

I didn't even have to do that. I just used their car buying service. I didn't have to haggle and neither of the local dealerships were willing to match the offer I had through USAA.

They were willing to match the price for my brother on a non 4x4 with an added option.

We bought almost identical cars 6 hours and 1200 miles apart

ETA: I do get all of my standard maintenance at the dealership I bought from

I will work with anyone, but just because somebody is wanting to purchase a new vehicle doesnt mean that salesman, well all salesman, are out to take you for everything you have. Like I said I passed up a lot of money to get people in what the truly want.
I dont see what people are getting offended of, if you come to treat me as a dog then you will not get very far, nobody likes it. Im here to help you find something you clearly want to buy, im not here to sell anything to you.

If you're not out to make the most money on every deal you have to change your attitude. You can put them in what they truly want and still make profit, it's all in how you present the information

Penfed(and I'm sure USAA) makes it so easy I could log in and be approved in 5 minutes because all my info is saved to their site. They overnight a check to me and I'll have it by 10 AM tomorrow morning

Totally get it and that is pretty damn convenient but it's still less convenient if the dealer has the same or better rate, there's just no denying that my brother

When your mother, your girlfriend and even your ex all tell you to stop kidding yourself, you're a car guy and a damn good one, it's probably time to start thinking about getting back in it. I'd rather be on the banks side with the hours, consistent pay and stability. I don't need 120k a year anymore, I just need to be happy at work and home. I have the home part down, one more to go

I haven't had one say they could match or beat yet, they basically said if you can get that go get it

but if they did I'd probably let them finance it

For a good, not great because I damn sure wasn't great, car guys there is very rarely a customer you don't maintain basic control over. The entire scenario is tailored for it, there's no escaping it without using a ton of protocols that not a lot of people can achieve without prior knowledge or insider info.

Half assing because the payoff to workload is low, just not really doing their jobs if you ask me

It's not nearly the money I made but, seriously, frick that shite. I have systematically, and at a steel cost, cut my expenses and debt to virtually nothing so I wouldn't be pigeonholed into a job strictly for money

that is the only reason I'm still doing this. I used to enjoy this business but not anymore. I'm still in it because I have to be

That's when I left. I wanted to eat a pistol before spinning another deal. I hated it all, myself, the money, the lost time. I resented every day I spent twiddling my thumbs making dick when I was on the floor because it's 2008 and the diesel trucks you sold for 60k are worth 15k now
